Description

Absolutely outstanding elaborate antique Edwardian era white high neck linen two piece lace embroidered garden summer dress tea gown C. 1900.
From the La Belle Époque era this gown is characterized by the high neck, pigeon-breast puffy chest bodice, oversized sleeves going narrow at the forearm and the skirt hitting floor length with a slight trail.
Measurements: neck 12”, sh-sh 15 1/2”, sh- bottom of sleeve 19”, lace cuff 6”, 55” sh- hem, high neck 2”, bust 32-34”, skirt front 36”, skirt back 42”, Waist on skirt  31”, waist on bodice 26” lace high neck 2” ( has original stays.) (Waist on skirt may have been made bigger).
Both bodice and skirt have elaborate embroidered lace trims as you can see from the photos of the front bodice, sleeves and inserts on front and back of skirt.
The bodice has a hook on the front where it was probably attached to the top of the inside of the skirt. The back of the bodice was also probably hooked to the skirt as it appears a little shorter than the front….typical of the style of the day.
Other than the the waist being possibly made larger this gown appears all original including length, etc.
Please see all photos. A wonderful gown for a collector.
Please see 2 tiny condition issues described above and see last 2 photos. Otherwise it is in very good condition being professionally laundered here in Milwaukee at the exclusive Linens limited.
