Description
Antique velvet silk dress with soutache and knot work faux buttons around neckline, sleeves, and waist. Closes at back with hook and eyes with a short silk fringed tail sash. Netting inset at front yoke and lower sleeves. Museum deaccession. AS IS in need of some repairs…The taffeta lining with attached stays in the bodice is shattered but it appears that all of that can be safely removed, there are two tears on the neckline edge and a section of sleeve fabric that need to be repaired, the lower hem of the taffeta skirt lining has tears, a few areas around yoke need some stitching where it appears some basting stitches have come undone, separation at hem, may be undetected imperfections. A gorgeous dress. Not sure of exact decade, but believe it is early 20th century.
